Thanks Mom for the new helmet! Did you know helmets expire every 5 or so years? I did not realize I had my purple helmet for 5 whole years, when I had to replace my old helmet from the cycling accident I was in. I have come such a long way and it is really wonderful to see how far I can go, especially when I have the support from my friends! I am noticing some inclines that were daunting to me are just a distance. I also realize that I enjoy biking the most when I don’t have time limits, but more of a window of when I need to arrive, or if there is no rush to arrive. My goal is to work up towards more contiguous time riding, so I will be able to enjoy the ride down to Big Sur.

Ride Log
3/3 Ferry from Jack London to Embarcadero. My wheel got caught in the lightrail tracks on Market Street. And I fell forward and off my bike. Rode to see my siblings, went to the dentist, washed my pants so they’d look less sad, then rode into the Presidio through the Arguello gate. Met some old friends and walked around the Tunnel Tops! That was tough. Ate dinner in the Marina and made my way back to Oakland
3/5 rode to UC Berkeley to meet Manang Jess after a Grad School Info session! Took BART to 12th st and biked home
3/7 Quick ride to BART since I was headed in to SF for the day
3/9 To eat dinner with a friend and say farewell for now, passed a Greenway Bike Counter, I was the 856th Cyclist that day!!

3/13 Super Amazing bike excursion with M to the Marin Headlands!! We biked across the Golden Gate Bridge, stopped by the Marin Headlands Nursery, saw some former colleagues, had a picnic at Rodeo Beach, and made our way back into SF down Hawk Hill!!
3/15 To the bay bridge and back
3/17 Rode to my doctor’s appointment
3/22 Broke my 50 miles in 1 day threshold. Realized that the only way I could bike further was having better mileage by not rushing myself to bike faster or harder. I surpassed a mental barrier by listening to my physical needs. It was shocking and surprising and wonderful. I biked up to the Bay bridge twice, and to Shimada Friendship Park in Richmond.
